Cheap family weekend

Taking your family on holiday has never been so easy!

Going on a family holiday or weekend break can be a nightmare to organise, not to mention the money you need to fork out! Here at Vacancéole, we make organising family getaways a fun, hassle-free cinch! So much so, you'll be taking weekend breaks several times a year!

Where can you go for an affordable family weekend? Here are a few ideas and useful tips!

How can you go on a family holiday if you're on a tight budget?

Going on holiday with children is often a balancing act between sticking to your budget and letting the kids enjoy activities and outings that can sometimes be costly - we all want them to have a memorable time.

Here are a few tips to help you save money on family getaways:

  • Get alerts when we have new offers. Stay up to speed by subscribing to the Vacancéole newsletter! You'll have access to all our special offers and holiday deals throughout the year.
  • Book a last-minute break: give your kids a surprise, they'll be thrilled to learn they're been taken on an impromptu weekend away! Leaving at the last minute requires a great deal of flexibility, but it's a great way to save money and, above all, it's good for the morale!
  • VACAF subsidies: if your household is eligible for these subsidies, go for it! Most Vacancéole holiday residences are part of the VACAF scheme so you can enjoy a cut-price family trip.

Cheap family weekend getaways: where can you go?

Weekend breaks have numerous advantages! If you think they're too much of a hassle, read the next paragraph: you might just change your mind!

Firstly, going away for weekends means you can pack in several destinations during the same year! Obviously, a cheap weekend break destination shouldn't be too far from where you live: driving for hours just for a mini-break isn't worth the effort! Why not try out a destination you've been mulling over?

Off the beaten track: dare to venture into France's hidden nooks and crannies!

Low-income families who like to explore unusual places can head to inland France or less touristy areas! France is packed with small rural villages worth visiting. Adults and kids alike will find plenty to do at the weekend. For example, there's the Résidence Le Relais du Plessis, located in the Indre-et-Loire department, where families on a cheap break can enjoy a warm welcome in peaceful, natural surroundings.

The mountains: a nature weekend with plenty of fresh air.

Mountainous regions in summer make for great weekend destinations! The snow may have melted and the chairlifts may be closed, but the mountains are still bursting with activities! A number of ski resorts offer summer ski lift passes. Thanks to the ski lifts you can quickly and easily reach the peaks and enjoy downhill mountain biking or scooter racing, paragliding, or simply go for a walk. Northern Alps or Southern Alps, you've got a wide choice! For example, you could opt for the Southern Alps and stay at the Résidence Les Gorges Rouges. These fully-equipped flats sleep up to 8 people and are great for a short family break. There are loads of activities to keep you busy over the weekend, including outdoor sports and activities such as table tennis and board games. The residence also has a playground and swimming pool.

Some of our residences have been awarded the Green Key label, so guests can have a superb stay while supporting sustainable tourism!

So, no excuse, it's time to explore France and its scenery on a weekend break and show the kids the country's wonderful regions.
