When's a good time to go skiing
From December to the end of April: you have 5 months to hit the slopes! January is ideal for holidays on a budget away from the crowds, February is ideal for enjoying resorts with the family and if you haven't had time to go away this winter, don't panic! Who said you can't ski in spring? Some high-altitude resorts offer skiing all year round!
Holiday rentals in January to avoid the crowds
After indulging over Christmas and New Year, why not try some raclette? Put the resolutions on hold, head for the mountains and try some Savoyard cheese! After all, a good day's skiing is worth a little reward.
Going on a ski holiday in January has many advantages:
- You will be able to ski without queuing, with relatively empty slopes, spaces on the terrace in the high-altitude bars, with all the facilities and ski lessons operating as in the high season.
- Avoiding the school holidays also keeps the cost of ski rental down. So less demand means lower prices and we can still have fun! Heated indoor pool, wellness area, gym, spacious rooms... all at reduced prices.
- January is the middle of winter, meaning a guarantee of good snow and powder for off-piste fun.
In short, all good reasons to go skiing in January!
Enjoy lively resorts during the February mid-term holidays
February is the perfect time to take your little ones to the mountains! The resorts are in full swing and offer a wide range of services and facilities to ensure that you have a great time! If you bring the kids, I recommend you take a look at the resorts labelled Famille Plus which extend a special welcome to families.
For lively resorts with a large ski area, take a look at:
- Loudenvielle in the Pyrenees, with 80km of runs and a thermal water relaxation complex.
- Risoul in the southern French Alps – an affordable resort with a large ski area.
- The northern French Alps have everything! They are home to the largest and highest ski areas in the world: Les 2 Alpes, Tignes, Les 3 Vallées, offering 600 km of runs!
So where will you set off to for the February ski holidays?
Why not spend the Easter break on the ski slopes?
Who said you can't ski in April? Arrange your ski rental at altitude and enjoy the snowy slopes! At the end of the winter season, the resorts reduce the price of packages. Even accommodation is less expensive. It's the perfect opportunity to combine family time with low-cost skiing! All you have to do is carefully select your resorts. Did you know that the glacier at Les 2 Aples is located at an altitude of 3,200m? Year-round snow cover offers skiing at any time, even in the middle of August! So drop your bags at the cosy Résidence au Coeur des Ours*** or the Lauvitel, both in the centre of Les 2 Alpes.
After all, an Easter egg hunt in the snow sounds like fun!
