Why not try the Northern Alps? Depending on the time of year, you can enjoy fantastic family outings in summer, or take advantage of the amazing snow conditions in winter! Your kids will feel like they've been away for 2 weeks!  You can extend your search and look for last-minute rentals in other mountain ranges: France is packed with stunning mountains to enjoy all year round!

• The Ardèche is a destination where you can do loads of activities in just 2 days, from canoeing down the Ardèche to swimming or simply soaking up the sun. It's also a historic department home to the Grotte de Chauvet and its 425 prehistoric paintings: your kids will love learning about Stone Age life (and you can brush up on your history at the same time). 
• Brittany is a fantastic destination cooler than the Côte d'Azur: Finistère and the Côte d'Armor have plenty of lovely surprises in store for you! We bet your kids will be begging for Breton pancakes every time they sit down to eat! With its coastline and countryside, this beautiful region will win you over. Get ready for stunning beaches, cliffs, tasty local dishes and milder-than-usual weather (take your umbrella just in case, but you won't necessarily need it!)
• Go on a last-minute camping trip:families and camping are a match made in Heaven! Campsites offer a wealth of facilities and services for young and old alike: swimming pools, entertainment, kids' clubs, sports fields for volleyball, tennis, pétanque... You don't necessarily have to be by the sea to have fun (although it's a huge plus!).
