A holiday in Vallon Pont d'Arc in the Ardèche

The town of Vallon Pont D'Arc is not far from your Le Vallon*** holiday residence in Grospierres. Take the opportunity to explore this village at the entrance of the Gorges de l'Ardèche. We really recommend you rent canoes to paddle down the river! You can also stop for a swim and enjoy the idyllic beaches of this impressive natural site! While descending the Gorges de l'Ardèche, you will come across the famous Pont d'Arc: a huge and magnificent natural arch that is over 60 metres high. We also have our grand canyon in France! 

You have another chance to relax on a small beach and to take a dip just below this famous Pont d'Arc arch! Did you know that? It is to the river Ardeche that we are indebted for this arch. The arch was dug out and the rock pierced by the passage of the river. You will be amazed by this unique natural site. Everyone to their canoes and don't forget your camera!

Also, between Grospierres and another small village in the Ardèche called Vogüé, a 22km green path has been built on an old railway line where you can take long magnificent bike rides with your family, and in complete safety! 

There are so many sites to visit during a stay in the Ardèche! Between the Gorges and Le Pont d'Arc, there are also many other natural sites to explore. The Aven d'Orgnac and the Grotte de Chauvet are also worth a visit! The Aven d'Orgnac is a magnificent underground cave classified as a Grand Site de France. However, if you are claustrophobic, this activity is not for you! And yes, there are 700 steps to go down to reach 120 m depth, from where you can discover huge halls containing stalagmites and stalactites, each more impressive than the others! There is also a magical trick of the light that will leave you speechless! And don't panic, there's a lift back up! The Grotte de Chauvet also offers a majestic spectacle! Adorned with more than 425 prehistoric paintings and drawings dating back more than 36,000 years, this cave has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2014! What you need to remember is that you will not be visiting the original Grotte de Chauvet simply for your safety. A exact copy has been created so you can enjoy this beautiful setting. The frescoes, walls, floors and ceilings have all been reproduced identically! So how about a little trip back in time?
