Holiday destinations in January 2023

Where would be good for a January break?

January is the perfect time for a break away after the often stressful Christmas holidays. It is also a good idea to take advantage of reduced rates and avoid the crowds of the school holidays. Would you go for a romantic weekend in Brittany? Skiing with friends? Or a family holiday in the countryside?

Break up your January getaway with a range of activities

What about a trip to the mountains? January is the perfect time to go skiing. Enjoy the snow-covered slopes, ski lifts with no queues and cheap ski apartment rentals. Whether you head to the Pyrenees, or anywhere in French Alps, you are sure to fall in love with a resort. If you prefer high-altitude mountain resorts with large ski areas, head to Tignes or Les Deux Alpes. For family resorts, check out Loudenvielle in the Pyrenees or Valloire in Savoie. Once there, let yourself be tempted by winter sports such as skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. To add a little extra excitement to your stay, try out fat biking (mountain biking on snow) or ice climbing!

Does a romantic weekend in Brittany appeal to you? Head off for a few days to an area famous for its galettes. It is a January holiday destination that will appeal to you in many ways. Visit Mont Saint-Michel and discover the world famous abbey. Stroll around the beautiful fortified port city of Saint-Malo, and enjoy the restaurants and seaside walks, or pamper yourself at a relaxing spa. Book your accommodation in Vannes and wander through the narrow streets lined with half-timbered houses.

Want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city? Find out more about our holiday homes in the countryside. The Pont du Gard, the Ardèche gorges, Lake Annecy or the Basque hinterland are all stand-out destinations. On the itinerary: bike rides, restaurants, local heritage discovery...

Where can you stay on your January break?

If you're heading to the Pyrenees in January, stay at Les Chalets de l'Isard*** in the resort of Les Angles. As an added bonus: Enjoy a winter warm-up in the heated indoor pool and the wellness area. Apartments sleep 4 to 8 guests and are fully equipped. In the northern French Alps, stay at the Beauregard residence in Valmorel. The apartments have been fully renovated and the decor combines authenticity with modernity. Apartments can sleep 2 to 10 guests.

If you prefer a romantic seaside stroll, head straight to Saint-Nic. The Breton seaside resort is sure to please. In January, stay at the 3-star Les Terrasses de Pentrez. With a bit of luck you will even have a sea view! Remember to pack your swimsuit, as the residence has a heated indoor swimming pool.

For a January countryside break off the beaten track, head to Motz. The Village des Oiseaux residence lies in the heart of rural Savoie. You will stay between lakes and mountains in a Natura 2000 protected area. There is no shortage of outdoor activities and in the evening you can enjoy the local specialities. If you like your cheese, you're in for a treat!
